Hi MG,

Tax sellers will be those who have shorted from the top and tried to catch a bounce that trapped them and those who have scalped the moves either way. There will be some but I think your idea of no big moves to offset will be the bigger picture.

Last December I was in only semi's that had been creamed the whole year. I didn't really notice tax selling until the last 2-3 weeks of december.As you point out there were some huge gains to offset that year and some huge losses in my particular investment sector.

Major impact will only occur in December if it does.Keep in mind a record level of short positions (4.06 billion shares) exists out there.

Squeezing the shorts potentially will be much more powerful an impact, than offsetting unlikely or at best weak gains.
