Oh I doubt it... Too many of the power brokers and politicos over in Europe have their prestige and political futures at risk if the Euro fails.

They WILL make it work, even if it requires "extreme" measures.

And that's what scares some folks, I'd wager.

This mafia thing will be a quick event that will pass within a couple of months, and probably receive little press coverage (no need to make merchants nervous).

This is pretty similiar to what the US went through just after the end of the American Revolution. We were 13 different little colonies/nation-states gathered together into a conferacy (Articles of Conferderation)..

But it didn't work out and there were too many issues about who could tax whom, and who controlled intra-state trade..

Thus, the creation of the US constitution and the introduction of Federalism and a strong central government.
