I'm inclined to agree with you. The economy has been above the trend line for how many years now. There was a significant excess of capital investment. I suspect that there has to be a much sharper drop below the trend line, or (worse, IMO) a prolonged period of no growth, to bring the system back into balance. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm afraid I'm right.

Cash has now been king for 45 months, according to Merrill. Other than banks, there hasn't been much to smile about in stocks.
