Yes, unfortunately religion differences can be more divisive, (I personally, know it too well, but that is another subject).

Europe certainly has those differences far more ingrained than (hopefully), the US ever will. [just take a look at Servia/Bosnia etc.)

This evidence, (religious and otherwise), is why I perceive that the Euro as common currency may not make it. No, I do not have a "solution"/suggestion either.
