Sometime in the next 24 months, some company the size of LU is going to be teetering on the edge of the Abyss, no private angels will show up, and the WashingtonPlungeProtectionTeam will ride to the rescue, spending your money with abandon to do another Fix. They've been doing this, over and over and over and over, year after year, from Chrysler to Mexico to LTCM to S. Korea to Russia to Argentina. "Economic Darwinism" is just too unsettling, too harsh and ugly. The U.S. hasn't been run that way for a 100 years, since Teddy Rooseveldt and the Progressives (Republicans, I'll remind you).
