Thanks much for your reply. I understand that there is no single "standard" script, although those key tax months increase the likelihood that events will transpire in one of smaller number of ways... but watch out for that surprise ending <ggg>. At any rate, I'll add the Sept/Dec '74 double bottom scenario to the list of possibilities.

This market just got tagged with a left jab. Waiting for the knockout by right hook before the funds make end of year. Always looks nice in the fund prospectus, when the year over year performance is rocketing upwards. Only way to get that is to get the bad year over and done with(with OPM), share prices be damned.

Think I remember a short squeezing bear rally last year, in late September, which fizzled out the first week October. The period marks the last time (hopefully) ol' Rails got his butt kicked, because at the time, he thought the fundamentals of a leading company were the most important factors when investing and picking the right stock to hold.
