sam,
Nonsense! Individuals can only take $3000 in losses i believe. Same is true for institutions as well. The rest are carried over and that is not a reason to sell at or near the bottom of the bear. I have already taken enough losses for many l years to come. I will be looking to take gains where i can to offset losses already booked. I wont be selling my jdsu this year. As for institutions it is window dressing that has caused weakness during the last few months of the year or at the end of any quarter. How many times can they window dress? mike

I believe it is a fallacy to assume that there will be very limited tax loss selling this year due to the lack of investment profits to offset.

I never said that was my assumption, merely giving a possibility of what may happen.
