Intl Monetary Fund has a very sketchy track record

their M.O. is to find a country in need of help
they help on condition that they enter a long protracted recession that cripples future growth, sends unemploymt to double digits, and closes down the mfg base...
but does reduce govt expenditures and cleans up banks some

interesting that they expect 2.8% US GDP growth this year, even as they lend credence to worsening recession

also interesting that they totally abandoned Japan
poor Japan is hapless, rudderless
Jeremy Grantham calls their entire economy worthless, except for scrap value

several precedents
these guys are largely clueless
that is why the US had cut back its contributions by 75% in recent years
they help by tying you up and sending you adrift at sea
