A return to positive market sentiment should overwhelm tax loss selling. Of course if you take all your losses and reenter immediately into similar stocks(amat/nvls) one could have tax free gains forever or at least i could. mike

Bob Pisani on cnbc just asked the same question about institutions have little gains to offset. Said he had talked to Lipper people and they didnt get september/october tax loss selling as being a factor in propelling markets lower this coming month. If anything there could be less selling than last year. Remember folks only $3000 to deduct. Lost that in January. mike
