Ironically, Intel is having the same problem selling against Sun. Despite the performance gains that Xeon has over UltraSparc, people still feel more comfortable with the perception of Sun superiority. That's why Intel developed Itanium. As usual, AMD is taking tips from Intel, and is diverting their product line to include processors specifically for the server segment to try and improve their perception to the industry. None-the-less, it's going to be an uphill battle, and you'll have to live with the decisions of your company, and many others like them.
