The Homestead Strike, of course, is considered a watershed of labor history. I suppose with memories of pitched battles with the Pinkertons, it is inevitable that there be a big "brudder" sentiment in the area. I seemed to notice a strong class consciousness in the area, perhaps exacerbated by the enclaves, where the bosses are in outlying suburbs, and the older neighborhoods are close to smokestack industries......
