802.11 won't enable me to use my laptop at the beach or camping, or on my back patio for that matter. Works great on my back patio!! And my neighbors!!! But, If your provider is Sprint PCS. and you live in San Diego.. I think you are going to be disappointed.. It's hard to find a beach were PCS works in North San Diego county.. Ditto for the mountains where the majority of the camping is done.. Have you ever considered a Globalstar Phone? I spend very little time in Starbucks Thanks.. I'm SHORT SBUX.. PCSTEL
