Think about all the people borrowing money to buy houses, boats, cars, etc...based on their holdings in the market. Agreed! I've met some of them. They cannot conceive of the markets NOT bouncing back. And that is a deadly combination, as they continue to extend themselves. This is why the recent news about declining consumer confidence is so upsetting. We are talking about a house of cards in the middle of the room and someone just opened the front door to a blizzard outside. The cards have not yet fallen. But the potential is certainly there.
