It shouldn't be applicable to the stock market, at all. If you buy a horse, you can look at it, ride it and even ask about it. When you buy a stock you rely upon information that is carefully controlled by the company, massaged by its accountants, polished by its IR people, tweaked by its lawyers, colored by its investment bankers and seasoned by the media. You can beware all you want, it doesn't matter.
