Because he could negate many of their efforts to make this a better world if he gets too powerful. Most allies are now sitting on their hands with Bush waiting to see if the Senate can't knock down his programs. Many of them will just do little and wait for four years to engage us on anything. ROTFL! You mean the Europeans are stymied in their efforts to "make this a better world"? They are past masters at paying lip service to just about anything while doing NOTHING! Dubya is just another convenient excuse for them to do nothing.
