I don't know.
I've never had an affair and I am afraid I am a very harsh judge of people who do. I am sure we are all tempted. And many people cave- but that, I believe, is a personal failure. I am not sure why it is the right of others to know about your most intimate personal relations (assuming you aren't breaking the law).

So while it would affect the way I thought of a politician to know he or she had an affair, I'm not sure I have any right to that information.

But we all have a right to expect people not to obstruct legal investigations into matters that ARE public policy. Like finding missing people. That is what upsets me.
