I think the Europeans will be watching the Koreans turn on video conferencing (and other applications) on their cell phones next year, and they won't be happy to be limited to GSM voice and a GPRS service that can only support limited software functionality.

There is enough of a free market around the world that 1x will be experienced, and people will like what they experience. In this context, it is not too likely that Europe will settle for GSM instead of 3G.

Pierre, in focusing on the capital markets rather than technology, I have already assumed that QUALCOMM has won the technology war, hands down. Unfortunately it hasn't any good, as the real war, so to speak, is political as well as financial, and not technical.
