Even when Windows NT shows the processor running at 100%, it's probably only using 30% of its resources (i.e. execution units). 2-way hyperthreading probably only increases that to 50%.

I recall one of the companies making 3D rendering suites (I believe it was Alias/Wavefront regarding one of the very early versions of Maya - this would be early-to-mid nineties) bragged about the IPC-effeciency of its new software. Although, now that you pressure me, I cannot recall if this was on the SGI platform or Windows&#133 Probably SGI, now that I think about it, but then I don't really know much about the early days of Maya or Alias/Wavefront (other than SGI purchased and merged them way back when).
