JC,

I think MS will have more success than you expect (unfortunaly I guess). PS-2 has two enormous disadvantages :

-It'll be long before Internet playing be a reality in, say 30% of the owners consoles.
-Its capabilities simply won't cut and in a year from now, it'll be easily be outclassed by a PC.

xBox games won't be ported that easily to PC, unless you emulate them, and it will take quite a powerful PC to do so. For more intelligence read this very believable article:
theinquirer.net

Sony will need a PS3 (with an Hammer in Jerry?) to kick MS out.

Max

RE:"What's the point of getting an X-Box when you don't need it to play the games you buy? It's like getting a radio that plays TV channels when you already have a TV in your room!"

I think the point is that the X-box will be essentially a $300 PC with a heck of a graphics engine...

I'll likely buy one myself and hook it up to the Sony Wega in the living room. If I can surf the web with it all the better...
As a $300 PC it could be dangerous to your average PC OEM...REAL DANGEROUS...especially if it has the same versatility as a PC, which is the PCs strong point.

Maybe Dell or some other OEMs will cry fowl at the prices Intel gave Microsoft...or that they are helping the "enemy" who is selling x-boxes at a loss...
Maybe they are nervous? Hummm
