Some of P4's execution units share resources, it does not have the ability to handle 7 operations at once, while Athlon can handle 9.

P4's clock oscillates faster than Athlon's, no argument from me about that.

But Athlon can decode 100% more instructions per cycle.

And it can process 50% more operations per cycle than P4.

And the performance shows it.
