>>I have not seen any press releases stating that they are delaying the deployment of 3G for any other reason then it doesn't exist for them yet.<<

100cfm--But there have been press releases and news stories on the decision of Vodafone, for example, to push ahead with WCDMA in favor of CDMA2000, even though Vodafone is in a position to profit from handsets using QUALCOMM chips that allow either CDMAOne or GSM phones to work on CDMA2000. It would make sense for Vodafone to want compatibility between its existing CDMA facilities in the U.S. and GSM facilities elsewhere. If Vodafone, the world's largest wireless service provider isn't going to do it, who is?

I had the impression, maybe totally wrong, that a cell phone with a clear image of the other party does not now exist and will not exist until something somewhat faster than the 1X is produced, by QCOM, and readily available. When it does exist, despite all the FUD, it will conquer the world, IMHO. But I'm content to wait until it arrives which may be in 2005-2006, which isn't "very soon" as you report. I hope I am wrong.
