100cfm, >>W-CDMA beginning October 1st....this is damn good news (at least to me). <<

Ditto, ditto...
In order ro roll out on Oct 1st, the handsets had to be ordered and they need to be in place by Oct 1st. As thos handsets leave the factory, the royalties become payable to QCOM. So that will happen in late September, well within QCOM's 4th quarter. Just more unexpected, additional revenue...

Another prediction come true is that the WCDMA handsets are rather expensive. $416.00 at current exchange rates. But that will come down as the volume goes up. The silver linning to this is the higher ASPs equal higher royalty payments to us

I was actually surprised at how low the price of the handsets was....the replacement cost for the handsets in the trial phase was 100,000 Yen. I think it is likely that these handsets are being heavily subsidised. The unsubsidised cost of some brand new 1x handsets in Korea is around $400. I would think that the W-CDMA handsets are considerably more expensive.

I think that these should be well within the budgets of many early adopters in Japan....
