I find it safer to say I'm striving to be happy or that I'm seeking more people to like. Few are always happy (unmedicated) and few like all people. We all love constancy and if things were perfect we'd want no change. Yet change comes. I think I've gotten better at celebrating change, even when it's less desirable. By expecting it, I can accept it better.

Your points are right on.

And if your friends aren't honest about themselves you can't get to know them. But some people don't know
themselves well enough to be honest. I don't know where you go with that. I've met people who seem to have no
clue about the messages they are giving off. People who are clearly wild with anger who claim to be happy. People
who denigrate other people constantly who claim to like people. I have never had any people like that as friends,
just because it is too disturbing.

I liked this. A lot.

I agree. I had an engineer at work with a shirt on inside out. He was on my team. What should I do? Tell him. I always say I'd rather look like an idiot in front of 10 people than 100. Zero is a better number but represents an ideal. Then engineer was embarrassed, but not as embarrassed as doing it all day long.

I would whisper it in their ear.

Brava. This is the crux of kindness to me. Honesty with tact.
