There is no such thing as consensus building

A lot of people who work in the field of consensus building would be very surprised by that statement.

Indeed, the divorce mediation work I do is precisely that -- an attempt to build consensus, even if only between two people, over the best way to resolve the issues separating them. So as one who is professionally engaged in consensus building, I have to respectfully disagree with your contention.
