But until we get real campaign finance reform it won't happen. Even billionaire Perot couldn't afford to take it all the way, though he came close. Problem with him was his whackiness as a person. In the end he and that Admiral Stockdale both looked senile and silly. And his endorsement of Bush last year because of "honesty" made no sense at all because he was blaming Gore and Monica which wasn't fair, and Bush was lying on the campaign trail every day. It was something else, Perot is a weirdo with some skeletons in his closet for sure. Like Cheney-Bush he lives in the past of the Cold War and industrial times. What we need are younger, brighter more progressive independent candidates who are not reactionary pundit types with chips on their shoulder like Buchanon, Nader, Forbes and Keyes. But where will we find such men and women? Give us campaign finance reform and maybe they will appear. But let's face it, no candidate will ever please everyone. It's probably always going to be lesser of two evils for which we fight. Nader was dead wrong though on one thing, there was a BIG difference between Gore and Bush, as we can now see. Bush is fixing what wasn't broken and letting the pigs to the troughs. It's a bad time to try and do this with the recession upon us. And it was the worst possible time for his buddies to engineer a big energy gouging. We just can't afford what Bush wants, and his programs are to the detriment of most average Americans, as we are finding out now.
