Good point, Michael. It could be that this October is different in that many funds have been selling all year long, so their selling may be finished. But at best, I think we trade sideways, so you can eliminate some downside risk by waiting until mid-October at least.

As far as the Ciena/SCMR rumor, that is an interesting one. Cisco considered purchasing Ciena awhile back and I still think they made a monumental mistake in not buying them when they had the chance. Judging from Cisco's acquisition habits, though, I'd say SCMR is a more likely candidate. But I'd rather see Cisco buy Ciena to get a major leg up in the optical space, while everything is cheap. Contrary to what everyone believes right now, optical is a very big deal and will be the place to be in 2-3 years again. Cisco absolutely needs to have a bigger showing in this area if they are to continue being the powerhouse they are today. One thing I fear is if some of these future technologies every become viable, they may replace many of the intelligent switches/routers that are the mainstay of Cisco's business today. So Cisco would do well to pay attention and start betting with some of that $18B in cash. JMHO.

I would love to see a Cisco/Ciena hook up.
