If more people are exiting the theatre chances are the movie is not about to start, and vice versa. Look at the breadth charts. They are not "irrevelant" no mater how much you want to ignore them.

The bear market started in 1998. It ended in October of 2000. Tech is in its own cycle, but it certainly lagged the broad market cycle. It isn't the first domino. Tech topped out nearly 2 years after the broad market.
