I was born about exactly where the pole lies. And no, I don't mean in Polish Parliament. My mother was with admiral Byrd when he opverflew the pole and I decided to make a grand entrance. Don't believe that one? Neither do I. But it's better than a Cabbage leaf with all those bugs.

Most Ontarions live south of the 49 parallel. By the time you get to the 49 parallel in Ontario you are just about out of roads and towns. Kapuskasing is no more than 150 miles from James Bay and it is on the Northernmost highway in Ontario and I think Kap is around 49 degrees north. Cochrane, Geraldton and Timmins are about at the same parallel. Red Lake, the gold mining town is about 90 miles north of that road and quite a bit west. People in Alberta, BC, Manitoba and Saskatchewan live all the way north to the 60th parallel.
