Keith Burnell really came on strong this spring.

In 1998, Suggs was the #8 ranked player in Va and Keith Burnell was #11 coming out of high school. Since then, Suggs has excelled while Burnell was in Beamer's dog house for their first 3 years (including redshirt).

When we landed KJ, I thought for sure KJ would be #2. But this spring, Burnell really came on strong this spring and beat out KJ for the #2 spot. KJ looks like he could use some more mass even though he's chiseled. Burnell has great potential and will be a great replacement, but Beamer had called Suggs the best tailback in VT history and I share that view.

I didn't expect to win the national championship this year because of our young OL, new QB, and strength of schedule, and Suggs's injury only makes things worse. I think 2002 and 2003 are great chances for winning it all, especially 2002.
