I must admit that I haven't been following the economic scene very closely these days. I'm in the camp that believes that it will be a long, drawn-out period of relatively poor market performance, so there's no need to get too wrapped up in equities at this point.

Having said that, let me say that I'm a little surprised to hear talk about the "implosion of the Japanese banking system." That kind of talk has been going on for a number of years ... with no big calamity. I would have thought that Japanese death toll would have come to an end by now.

The S&P500 and NASDAQ 100 are still richly priced in terms of historical PE ratios.

Keep in mind that the "E" part in many cases are outright lies.

Btw, another name for "outright lies" is "pro forma earnings"...
