In the mid-1990s the US surpassed Japan—which had long been at the top for the number of hours worked—and American workers now work 137 hours (3½ weeks) more a year than Japanese workers, 260 hours (about 6½ weeks) more a year than British workers and 499 hours (about 12½ weeks) more a year than German workers, the report said. wsws.org
