Do you know this for a fact? Or is it conjecture?

Dear Steve, I understand WHAT has been going on. It is just that YOU are using computerized accounting, which is just plain ole derivatives in binary code. You can't call derivatives physical gold, and you can't call physical a derivative.

Gold is the ONLY asset category in which there is NO corresponding liability.

If I have it in my hand,
or buy it and take delivery of the commodity contract amount,
then that is no longer a derivative, that is a physical gold holding.
And it isn't even "fractional" holding...I get the whole golden enchilada.

Gold is not being fractionally lent...wherever did you get that idea? If it is, I'd like to see proof of that statement and am willing to view your proof with an open mind. So, lay fractional physical gold lending on me.

Either someone has the darned stuff or they don't. ALL the rest is vapor gold.
