I like value line, if only in that they present a lot of info in a small space. My typical pattern is to find something I like, buy a few shares AND THEN ask my wife to bring home the value line. I don't like IBD-just a personality thing I guess. Wish I could say I was rigorous in my selection process. I'm not. Sometimes the bells go off and sometimes they don't. Mostly I just pay attention when the bells go off.

I just wanted to add that when I said I wasn't "rigorous" in my selection process, I really meant that I don't rely on a rigid selection process. I started out with Graham and Dodd, so profitable, low debt, price to tangible book, dumb stuff like that always is in mind when I first look at a company. If it passes the basics then I tend to make allowances for the "story", which is highly subjective.
