I think it will throw enough uncertainty about both HP and CPQ into the mix that Sun can clean up.

How does this affect Sun?

I see two struggling firms promoting PC's which are dying, and printers (which are becoming commodities) which are low margin. I can see them firing many people here. As for server competition? They will have a service advantage, but I don't see Carly Fiorina as such a "smart" CEO. I am sure it will only strengthen SUNW's stance as the UNIX server king.
