It is a sure sign that a law is unjust when the coercive power of the state is required to enforce it against the will of the vast majority of citizens.

If the Federal Government removed the threat of violence,(imprisonment and enforced penury are violent acts) what would happen to the number of tax dollars it could collect? Down 10%, 50%, 75%?

The answer is 75%.

We generally accept the right of the legislature to enact laws (within the confines of the constitution) but that doesn't mean that any law the legislature enacts will be just. It is not a small point that the increase in taxation has occurred within the rules od democratic governance but it is not a big enough point to make it sill to stress the fact that one can be punished for non compliance with the tax law. If taxes where voluntary there would be no issue of them being unjust.
