Do you want to explain how it was unjust? It may have been heavy- handed, but the federal government did have leverage through highway dollars........

The Federally mandated 55 mph speed limit was unjust also.

Not only unjust, but immoral. With a stroke of the pen the feds created a nation of cynics and scofflaws. Whether or not you think the corrosive effect was salutary, there is something a little sad about lil ole granny, who always obeyed laws, suddenly turning into a lawbreaker.

It got to be a cash cow for the states, too. Not hard for a trooper to write speeding tickets when everyone on the road is a violator.
