Generally, the idear with the deep ecologists is to stop all of the rape of the planet. A really good place to start to investigate this perspective is to read (at least the Cliff Notes) Edward Abbey's "Monkey Wrench Gang" and "Hayduke Lives". Then, study the history of Earth First, and you will have a basis for comprehending the movement as it has evolved. The whole notion is that we really ought to stop raping and pillaging the planet for the sake of one stupid species who've figured out how to be incredibly destructive and fertile at the same time.
