Somewhere in here, depending on how you measure it, the Naz may very well recover and resume its long term (pre-1999) trend line:

I think the time is near, or here, to make some prudent long term bets. 1400 is a distinct possibility here, but if we don't see 2500 or even 3000 in the next three years I would be surprised. But only place long term bets on stocks that pass stability and financial integrity screens, however you choose to define them.

>>Today was a serious ugly in what could a month of serious ugly's! Fear factor = High! <<

Sometimes fear is a good thing.

<g>

The big FEAR right now as I see it is over-capacity and slowing demand. As Jorj pointed out earlier, we should see more consolidation and elimination of the weaker players, which should help, but until we get a clearer picture of the next earnings growth cycle, it's kinda tough sledding deciding which P to pay for that E.

<edit>

I see that OMD has also address the valuation issue and the "smoke and mirrors" of accounting that may be coming home to roost.

I concur with you, OMD. This is like the "cock roach" theory on steroids.
