Initially you asked a sensible question or 2.

But ...

... you proclaim NOT to understand answers that people patiently try to give you in response.

Since that is the case, perhaps you should do your own research on this subject at your own pace.

I would hope that I would never patronize you as you do me should you ever ask me a question in the areas in which I'm well-versed. These subjects unfortunately don't get discussed here. If you should somehow wander into these areas, I will gladly give you the benefit of my time and expertise. Without all the moaning, groaning and histrionics.

You presume familiarity with the technology and verbiage which I don't have. Hence, you will see me stumble in asking my questions. I am not a "seasoned citizen" who has spent his lifetime in the telecommunications business so if seeing an amateur attempt to understand a complex subject wounds your precious sensibilities, protect yourself from further assaults by my ignorant queries and put me on ignore. No skin off my nose. But remember one thing: I have as much right to discuss these issues as you do. Your right to self-censor is a keystroke away. I encourage you to use it.

I do appreciate Illmarinen's mostly courteous responses and I certainly appreciate your time and the sharing of your knowledge. However, I do not intend to stand idly by while you rudely and insultingly interject yourself into a discussion in which you are not a participant.

here is a question, what does this mean?

Method and apparatus for providing orthogonal spot beams, sectors, and picocells

Abstract
A method and apparatus for providing orthogonal spot beams, sectors, and picocells. The transmissions can be made orthogonally by using orthogonal auxiliary pilots and different Walsh traffic channels in adjacent areas. In accordance with the IS-95 standard, the pilot signal is covered with the 64-chip Walsh sequence zero. The 64-chip all zeros Walsh sequence can be designated as P and the 64-chip all one sequence can be designated as M. In the present invention, additional pilot signals can be provided by concatenating 64-chip all zeros P and all ones M sequences. Thus, for two pilot signals, pilot Walsh sequences of PP and PM can be used. For four pilot signals, pilot Walsh sequences of PPPP, PMPM, PPMM, and PMMP can be used. The present invention can be extended such that any required number of pilot Walsh sequences can be generated by substituting each bit in an K-bit Walsh sequence with the 64-chip all zeros P or all ones M sequence depending on the value of that bit.

Q patent granted today.

then tie it in with this one, also today.

Receiving station with interference signal suppression

Abstract
An optimum combiner that reduces the amount of interference imposed upon a first base station by transmissions of other base stations within the same communication system. Two antennas are used to receive transmissions within a receiving station. A rake receiver is coupled to each antenna. By optimally combining the signals that are received by each independent finger of the rake receiver, interference that is correlated between a finger associated with the first antenna and a finger associated with the second antenna can be minimized with respect to the desired signal. Optimum combining requires determination of optimum combining coefficients.
