Don't be too quick to defend that psycho Cramer. Here is what he said today with CPQ at $12.

Action Alert: Compaq

By James J. Cramer

09/04/2001 01:03 PM EDT

People are way too negative about this Hewlett-Packard (HWP:NYSE - news - commentary)/Compaq (CPQ:NYSE - news - commentary) combination. Way too negative. You have giant cost savings, a terrific synergy between printers and personal computers, great brand names and lots of ways to make big money. The new company can now bargain better with Microsoft (MSFT:Nasdaq - news - commentary) and Intel (INTC:Nasdaq - news - commentary). It can now demand the best end caps from Office Depot (ODP:NYSE - news - commentary) and Staples (SPLS:NYSE - news - commentary). It can play hardball. No one has bashed tech more strongly than I have, yet I can tell when people are despairing too much.
I believe that the $2.5 billion cost savings are low. I think Capellas from Compaq is making the right move for shareholders. I want to endorse him and profit from it. If worst comes to worst, someone else steps in and buys Compaq. It is for sale now, so no one can claim to be trying to get something going that wasn't in the cards.

That's why I am buying some Compaq with all the cash I have raised. I will not buy the stock until tomorrow, because I mentioned it on the air last week, but you can have the head start. (If you want to know how much and at what price I am buying, subscribe to the Action Alert PLUS product, which tells you, by email, exactly what I am doing before I do it.)

Conveniently, he is "waiting" until tomorrow to buy, but you can have the headstart. What a clown!

As far as I'm concerned, after seeing this pile of his trash picks last year:

thestreet.com

....he's no better than all the other shills out there. The only difference is he is finally getting some religion. Too little too late IMO.

I'm with you . . . JC may be a bit wacky, but he is willing to take a stand. I give him a bit of credit for that. PerryA
