don't worry about the japanese banks. they say they don't own much nasdaq, just treasuries and dow stocks.

Supposedly the "magic number" was between 1000 and 1100 on the Topix. In fact, I believe that the Topix sinking below 1100 a few days ago is what prompted the IMF to request that they be allowed to review the financial position of Japanese banks. But the major banks could very well have protected themselves against downside risk... they've had 11 years to get their hedges on.
