mathemagician, I'm disappointed in your decision to revisit Frank's post for the sole purpose of highlighting one phrase that in your opinion is the sort of phrase that might cause someone to feel rebuffed. That's in the context of generally advising John Shannon that his posts might be "somewhat confrontational." It's in the context of complimenting John for what you believe to be restraint. And it's in the context of absolutely no compliment to Frank for the work he's done in the folder. I think you're sending the wrong message by misplacing the emphasis on what's generally going right in our folder and what's generally going wrong. I don't always agree with the tone of what Frank writes and I didn't always disapprove of the tone of what John wrote prior to the time that I stopped reading his messages yesterday. However, if you're trying to seriously address the invitational tone of our folder in a meangingful way, I believe your post was the equivalent of shooting yourself in the foot. Unfortunately, your bullet ricocheted and hit all of us. Just my opinion. --Mike Buckley
