BELLEVUE, Wash. & NEW YORK, Sep 5, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- InfoSpace, Inc. (NASDAQ: INSP chart, msgs) and Verizon Online Services, the Internet group of Verizon Communications (NYSE: VZ chart, msgs), today announced an agreement for InfoSpace to provide comprehensive broadband and dial-up platforms and applications to Verizon Online.

Verizon Online soon will introduce dynamic new destination pages, powered by InfoSpace, to its more than one million digital subscriber line (DSL) and dial-up customers nationwide.

"Today's announcement is a big win for InfoSpace in the broadband space and is an excellent example of our efforts to extend our infrastructure technologies to our partners in multiple business areas. In this case, Verizon, one of the world's leading providers of communication services, has partnered with InfoSpace on its wireless, merchant and now, ISP initiatives," said Naveen Jain, chairman and CEO of InfoSpace, Inc. "Our broadband services are designed to take advantage of the high-speed connections DSL providers, like Verizon, deliver to customers nationwide, as well as next generation wireless networks, especially the rollout of packet-based, GPRS networks by several wireless carriers in the U.S. this year."

A new look for Verizon Online's destination pages is scheduled to debut in mid-September and will include new services and applications, with more to come over the coming months.

Some of the features InfoSpace will be supplying for Verizon Online's new destination pages include:

-- dynamic, rich, automatically updated flash and HTML
information;
-- streaming ticker featuring personalized headline news
capsules, stock quotes and sports scores;
-- media center, including up-to-the-minute streaming video and
audio clips for news, sports, entertainment, finance and
reference;
-- entertainment channel, including movie videos, trailers and
clips, as well as music downloads and Internet radio;
-- finance channel, including message boards, personalized
portfolio tracker and array of investing tools;
-- comprehensive news, sports, weather and shopping channels;
-- extensive multi-media search capabilities and reference
channel;
-- personalization services and integrated account management
