Hi twfowler; Re space budget &c. Yeah it's small potatoes, but that's not my point. I really wouldn't mind if they took half the defense budget and did something more meaningful with it. I don't mind the government taking my money. Though filling out the forms drives me nuts, and I'd rather they just take it automatically out of the brokerage accounts and paystubs. But then they wouldn't be able to reward people for having lots of children, running up big deductible expenses, etc., etc., etc.

What I'm saying is that I wouldn't necessarily object if they decided to spend a trillion dollars putting a colony on Mars. That would be a significant chunk of change, even spent over a decade, say. But I don't see it happening, not with the "leaders" we have. Instead, we're going to be able to tell our grandchildren that we were able to kick Iraq's asses, and kept the Canadians on their side of the border.
