This morning's report sure has dashed some hopes that the economy is bottoming. We may be looking at the first global recession since the 1930's. I think I'll wait a bit longer before buying copper futures.

One more thing: I'm looking to build a new house in the next year. I've been waiting for construction to slow down and now I'm doing my planning. After doing a pretty good amount of research, I'm going to use PEX tubing instead of copper plumbing. Most of the really nice homes that are being built in my area are going away from copper plumbing. On the other hand I'm putting in 2 runs of CAT 6 wiring, 2 solid copper RG6 coaxial cables and using 12 gauge electrical wiring. I haven't added it up, but I still believe that's a net decrease in pounds used.
