Nokia is not prepared to discuss a warning, which means one is coming shortly. See this:

HELSINKI, Sept 5 (Reuters) - Mobile phone maker Nokia , whose share has been hit recently by earnings rumours, on Wednesday declined to comment on whether it would issue a profit warning ahead of third-quarter earnings.

``We decline to comment. This is not a discussion we want to participate in,'' said Nokia's chief spokesman Lauri Kivinen.

Nokia (NYSE:NOK - news) publishes July-September earnings on October 19.

Earlier, the chief executive of Alcatel , Serge Tchuruk, said the French telecoms equipment maker was aiming for a positive result at the operating level in 2001, but said the year was a challenging one.

Nokia traded 4.93 percent lower at 16.40 euros -- back down to March 1999 levels -- at 1030 GMT, slightly outperforming the Dow Jones Technology index which was off 5.7 percent. Nokia was also hit on Tuesday by comments from Swedish rival Ericsson that there were no clear signs of a recovery in the market next year.
