In any event, the key point is that you have to die to get the benefit of any cut in the estate tax. And those who are hit by the estate tax have already paid most of the income tax collected in this country.

You may be right. The article did say 4500 "families" not individuals. Still it's an appalling statistic when Bush it out there championing himself as for the working families. Yeah right. What we don't need is richer rich and poorer middle-class.

It also has to make a huge assumption as to how these estates are to be willed, and what the heirs income already is.

I don't see how it can be reasonably estimated or assumed.

Just look at Andrew Carnegie, and what he gave away verses passed on to his daughter.
