Ken,

I figure that if your average media type is chuckling at nortel's expense, that must be some sort of contrarian indicator that a bottom is near.

It certainly is doing the rounds up in Canada via email; like you, I look forward to the day nortel is no longer the butt of bad jokes and are making serious profits, whether for themselves or as a part of a larger company. Too much at stake here - not personally, but for Canada's long-term economic health. I'm sure some think that is a joke; I can assure you that it is not (nor for Sweden or Finland).

I do think it is approaching a point where it could turn around (price-wise), but I suspect a long bottoming process will be needed to work off the dilutive effects of the ongoing financings. Of course the uncertainty over direction and management probably aren't helping matters.

Regards, Rob

you must be getting tired of watching NT make new 52 week lows every few days for months....

As I said a year ago....NT is a $5 stock...

Hard to say if this is the bottom though...high debt levels could prove to be real trouble for NT in the coming years if margins are continuely squeezed and telco spending continues to crash.

Needless to say, I am not interested in becoming a NT shareholder, yet.
