anyway the most recent amd guidance is a record shipment in the declining demand <=> market share gain

Albert, you lose a little info with each day that goes by. AMD said during IDF week that they'd ship at or near the record levels of the second quarter. So, they've covered their asses. What is near? Is 8% lower "near"? Predictions I've seen for Intel's current quarter are for increased units over last quarter. So, if all of the above are true, Intel is gaining back share, which I personally believe is true.

intel made some comments about lower than expected shipments of mobile which is partially attributed to amd as well
reported increase in demand for socket a/ddr boards

That was Jon Joseph, who also said Intel is ahead on P4 ships, in his opinion. Missing info again, Albert. You're going back to SSRM (severe selective reporting mode).

Albert,

One Needham report, and you become an AMD market share gain convert. You need to be a little more skeptical.

There is a lot of noise right now, and most of the product ships in the September month of the 3rd quarter. There is good evidence that Intel is gaining market share, IBM and Gateway are just two data points. SSB is a WAG. Needham is just another WAG. Nobody knows.

I take e) at this point.

Albert, I thought the exact wording from AMD's latest guidance is near record shipments. Seems to me they are backpedelling. In any event, the market doesnt have much faith in AMD's future prospects. I think things will get much worse for AMD with SRAM/P4 combo coming next week.
