Whenever I see this "Trading floor talk that company's presentation will be positive based on unconfirmed reports from Taiwanese foundries TSM and SPIL that Broadcom has increased orders of chips it provides for cable modems." type of reporting, it's clear there is bad news coming. Broadcom has lost a customer in 3Com (exiting business). Research data shows that more (30-50%) cable modems were built last year than new subscribers, by 3-5 million. I will be surprised if this "unconfirmed report" will be confirmed. If CIEN could drop to below 14, so can BRCM. good luck with the short.
